Trees waiting to be sold before Christmas: I took these pictures about three weeks ago at Karlsplatz in Vienna.
Seemed to be totally unreal – captivated trees, robbed of  their natural life and totally taken out of context. I first thought of an artistic intervention, but this was no installation in public space.
In addition to my pictures I came across the “Abandoned Christmas Trees Project” of photographer Mary Scherpe. She took a series of pictures in the streets of Berlin, all showing useless pieces of nature lying around after the annual celebration. A very nice idea indeed – to be seen here.
