scans from ‘Making Interstices’ – catalogue of Central Asia Pavilion at 53. Biennale di Venezia

Jamshed Kholikov`s photo series of 200 busstops in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan shows urban stages conveying ancient ideologically statements. Now these symbols for a past decade are substituted by non-individual, transparent glass-boxes, creating the image of an area full of progress and freedom. Cities and landscape loose character and roots for the benefits of an assimilation to a globalized image of urban space.
