Installation views of ‘Wallflower – Kicking against the Pricks’,
Tatjana Marusic, 2009
Mixed Media, Video, Sound, 10 Min.

In front of a polymorphic wall, Tatjana Marusic performs a choreography of movements changing between work-out and fight, between balanced, harmonic and disharmonious, aggressive movements. The human body becomes  a surface for associations and confrontations. The digital sound affects a staccato rhythm that`s particularly suggesting a remote controlled image of  the woman`s activities. Being excluded by the performer`s look, the viewer is left outside in a confrontation with his/her role of the puzzling and undefined other in an alternate position.

‘Wallflower’ is part of the exhibition ‘Digital Material’ at Freiraum21, MQ Vienna
February 12, 2010 – March 20, 2010
