Location overview, Horizon Field

Up to May 2012 there are 100 full-sized human models distributed throughout the high mountain region Vorarlberg in Austria. Up to now Horizon Field (by the British artist Antony Gormley in collaboration with Kunsthaus Bregenz) is the largest landscape installation that has ever been realized in Austria.
The industrially produced artifacts are placed at an altitude of 2.039 meters above sea level and all together build a horizontal line – they look in various directions but don`t look at each other in any case. During its 2-year period of presentation the statues will change due to nature`s constant influence like light and climate.
Gormley intends to call intention to the relation between sociological and geographical space, landscape and memory.
