Visiting Viennese book store Walther König, I came across the publication 26 Wiener Tankstellen (26 Viennese Gasoline Stations). According to Twentysix Gasoline Stations (1963) seen by Ed Ruscha on Highway 66 between Oklahoma and LA (see my link here) photographer Stefan Oláh and art historian Sebastian Hackenschmidt take a closer look at the generic Viennese Gasoline Station in 2010. While inner-city stations have to fit into the given space and therefore are rather unobtrusive and often located in backyards or on the sidewalk, they keep on attracting attention with huge promotional signs in peripheral areas. As far as you like to get an insight in infrastructural (non)design or are simply interested in the spots that are serving Viennese people with beer at night – have a look!
