During Christmas time people put their Christmas trees on the sidewalks. During the year this practice experiences new dimensions when furniture is being thrown out of houses and left in public space. Unintentional informative those very private things – like the abandoned mattresses shown above – tell stories about “all things we do on them – sleep, dream, make love – and how by dumping them onto the streets of New York we bring our very private lives out into the light”, as photographer Hee Jin Kang explains this funny series titled  “No Sleep” on pattern in urban space on her website.
