reflection on wasteland.

installation view: Lara Almarcegui, Secession, Vienna, 2010

On occasion of her exhibition at Secession, Vienna (which ended yesterday Nov.7, 2010) Lara Almarcegui used the main room for building a landscape made out of building rubble. Those mountains Almarcegui formed do reproduce the material in quality and and quantity that has been used to build the Secession building itself.
Additionally visitors received a folder including a plan and further information on wastelands at Nordbahnhof, Vienna. Almarcegui spurs her readers to visit those undefined places around Nordbahnhof as they`re “untouched by design” and going to be replaced by residential buildings, parks and offices in 2012.
