Rona Chang, from the series Urban Scale

Rona Chang, from the series Moving Forward, Standing Still, (Part II)

Rona Chang, from the series Recreation

The cumulative effect of people on their environment motivates me to record an extended portrait of society in a simple and quiet manner. Photographs bridge local and global experience, the gulfs between present and past, the self and the world. Places contain a complexity that reveals the marks of history and psychology in building, sky, construction and their interrelationships. I record themes of urban sprawl, sites of industrial activity, architectural infrastructures, and waterways, trying to visit and absorb as many places as possible. Combinations of conceptual order and practical chaos are present as I observe from a space located outside the area of activity. It is the intersection of human, climatic, and geographic realms that are contemplated in my photography. […]Rona Chang

The series Backlot-Cinecittá by photographer Gianluca Gamberini concentrates on questioning our concepts of reality. Gamberini takes a look behind the scenes, contrasting movable scenographic elements, as used on film sets or as stage designs, with their less temporary environment.

Judith Saupper, P.`s 20 Jahre – Hotel für Stunden, 2005 ( Hotel for hours)

Judith Saupper, P.`s 20 Jahre – Frisiersalon eines Freiers, 2005 (A punter`s hairdressing salon)

Judit Saupper, P.`s 20 Jahre – Hallenbad außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten, 2006 (Indoor swimming pool outside the opening hours)

Representing houses, rooms and flats, Judith Saupper`s models tell stories of their inhabitants` absence. Always trying to dissolve the distance between viewer and architecture,  her three-dimensional work becomes an illusion by disregarding architectural norms like statics: For me, the nightmare character of the buildings displays the basic fear of civilisation. (Saupper).

orte #18 homes.

credits: Kent Rogowski, Homes (from memory) 1974 -1992, pencil on paper, 48×60″, 2000

Homes (from memory) 1974-1992 is a collection of architectural plans of each of the homes that I lived in as a child and young adult drawn from memory. Since I have no recollection of the houses in their entirety, I created one (or and outline of one) by compiling disparate recollections. Since I lacked a complete memory of most of the houses many are left incomplete or individual rooms had to be drawn away from the body of the house. Each memory would alter the scale and placement of the rooms that I had already drawn and can be seen in the faint erasure marks on the paper. /Kent Rogowski/

My photographs of city, still objects and massive skyscrapers reduced to miniature sizes communicate my recurrent themes of excessive urbanization, redevelopment and demolition in the Beijing city. (Jiang Pengyi)
